MPSI Beginning Strings Summer Intensive – Novato:
What? A two-week summer intensive music program for beginning Violin and Cello, ages 5-9. The program includes interactive group classes, private lessons and hands on training.
Where? At Hamilton K-8 School’s beautiful campus in Novato, CA, located on 5530 Nave Dr.
When? July 28th – Aug. 9th, 2025
*Classes meet M – F from 9:30am to 2pm. There will be a dress rehearsal on Sat., Aug. 9th and a concluding student performance on the same day. Attendance on Aug. 9th is mandatory for all students.
Why? MPSI is a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for immigrant and underserved communities in Novato to learn and play music at a high level. The MPSI Summer Intensive is designed to provide a solid foundation in violin or cello for continued learning. The program is highly intensive and thorough in helping students develop the skills needed for long-term success and examines concepts such as correct posture, positioning of the instrument, correct bow hold, bowing motions, bow division, bow rhythms, open string exploration, sound production and ear training, all done through songs and games.
Additionally, the benefits of music are undeniable. Music helps develop all aspects of the brain, including language, motor skills, intellectual development and emotional development.
Cost: The tuition is $550 per a child for both weeks, plus a one-time registration fee of $25. **FULL AND PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE, AND INSTRUMENTS ARE PROVIDED! At MPSI we strongly believe that financial hardship shouldn’t get in the way of learning, and we are invested in providing accessible high quality training FOR ALL!
